Circulation Services
Borrowing Made Easy
Our circulation services handle user registration, borrowing, returns, renewals, and queries. Get started by registering with the library to access all our resources.

Renewals & Returns
Items can be renewed twice online through My Library Account, or in person at any circulation desk. Returns can be made to any MCAST library location.

Photocopying & Printing Costs

Card System
Photocopying uses a card-operated system:
- New Card: €3.00 (€2.50 deposit + €0.50 credit)
- Recharge: €2.50 minimum
- Deposit Refund: Available when card is returned
Scanning & Binding
Scanning: Free of charge, available through photocopier stations
Binding: Plastic spiral binding available at Mosta campus (€1.00 up to 50 pages, €1.50 for more)

Library Instruction & Tours
We offer orientation sessions, library tours, and training on using our resources effectively. Sessions are available throughout the year for individuals and groups.
Computing Facilities
All libraries provide computer access with internet connectivity for research, assignments, and email. Login details are provided by the IT department.

Quick Search Tips
Improve Your Search Results
- Use quotation marks for exact phrases: “renewable energy”
- Use AND to combine terms: solar AND energy
- Use OR to expand your search: university OR college
- Use NOT to exclude terms: energy NOT nuclear
- Use an asterisk (*) for word variations: comput* finds computer, computing, computation
- Use parentheses to group terms: (climate OR weather) AND change
- Check spelling if you get few or no results

Suggest New Resources
Is there a particular book, journal, database, etc. we don’t have that would make a useful addition to the library? Do you think we need more copies of an important textbook?
The MCAST library aims to make books and other resources available to support your learning and research. If the library does not have the material you require, you can suggest that we purchase it.
Request Status Tracking
You can follow the status of your request by logging into your online My Library Account and clicking on the Purchase requests button.
Making a Suggestion
Suggestions can be made by both MCAST staff and students.
Before submitting a suggestion, please use the online library catalogue to make sure that the library does not already have the item. For guidelines on how to do the search, please see Search Tips.
How to Suggest a Purchase

Search our online catalogue to ensure we don’t already have the item you’re requesting.
Choose Your Method
Use the online form for books, or email us for other types of materials.
Submit Your Suggestion
Fill out the appropriate form with all necessary details about the resource.
Track Your Request
Monitor the status of your suggestion through your My Library Account.

Library Opening Hours
Find opening times and contact information for all MCAST library locations across Malta and Gozo.
Important Notice
Please note the following general conditions:
- The Main Library in Paola operates Monday through Friday, with regular hours from 7:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The library offers extended hours from October to May, remaining open until 7:30 p.m.
- During the summer break (July to mid-September) and certain holiday periods, the library’s hours may be adjusted, closing at 1:30 p.m.
- The main and offsite libraries are closed on weekends, public holidays, and during the MCAST Christmas shutdown.
- Offsite libraries are also closed during the Summer term recesses.
- Offsite libraries will be closed on days when the designated staff member is on leave. We recommend that visitors from outside the respective campuses call to confirm the library’s availability before planning their visit.
